The following is an excerpt from an interview with Gonggong:

What season best represents your current state of mind?

“Spring. It’s the season of new beginnings and blooming flowers. As I prepare for graduate school abroad, I feel like I’m standing at a turning point, much like the start of spring. Last year, I often felt stuck, but now, as I get ready for a new beginning, ‘spring’ comes to mind.”

What is the most vivid color lingering in your mind right now?

“Bright sky blue was the first color that came to mind. Last year, I traveled to Taiwan with friends and bought a vintage top—it was this perfect shade of bright sky blue. I loved that piece, especially the big stars on it, and the trip itself left such a deep impression on me. And pink. I’ve always been drawn to neon colors, and I often use pink in my work. Neon pink is my absolute favorite.”

#buildyourownbody

 In collaboration with performance artist and art therapist in training Sunah Shim, this photoshoot captures the body as an ever-evolving act of building, unbuilding, and reclaiming, inspired by her writing How to #buildyourownbody.

How to #buildyourownbody

to completely disassemble the body you were born into;

 to thoroughly examine the culture(s) you were born into;

to lose balance to find one; to deconstruct to reconstruct;

to play with and against gravity; to stay in comfort and discomfort;

to exhale to inhale; to unlearn to relearn;

and to finally hug the body you have built; to love gently, then tightly;

to build your own body; to build your own body.

The eternal truth of the passing moment

Even if the moment only passes three seconds, the truth of the moment will last forever.

Emotion is what is left behind after all, sticked to the remnants of what we remember and what we will remember.

Even if the truth of what actually happened gets distorted a little as our memories fade away, what we felt at the very moment – the scent, the touch, the light,

and the warmth or the cold that lingered on us for that three seconds – is an undeniable fact; and this is what stays true to ourselves.

Even if it disappears into oblivion as we turn the page and carry on, when we come back to it again at some point of our life,

I guarantee you - you will still remember everything.

Some moments are infinite.
